Mirror

When I look into the mirror
What do I see
A beautiful young black woman
Staring back at me.

Her smile hides her tears
Her eyes hides her heart
And there's so much going on inside of her
That should have torn her world apart

But although she weeps at night
And laughs throughout the day
She is content and happy with life
And has been blessed along the way

She's definitely no size four
With hips as wide as as the sea
She has her flaws and wears them well
She is perfectly imperfect. She's me.

So again I look into the mirror
Reminded of who I see.
A beautifully imperfect, flawed, black young woman
Staring back at me.
